The Present Tense

Verbs are the engine of language. In French, we group them by their endings: **-ER**, **-IR**, and **-RE**. Plus, the "Big Four" irregulars.

Start Conjugating

90% of French verbs follow this pattern. Example: Parler (To speak).

Je parle

Tu parles

Il/Elle parle

Nous parlons

Vous parlez

Ils/Elles parlent

-e -es -e -ons -ez -ent

You cannot survive without these. They don't follow rules, so you must memorize them.

Je suis, tu es, il est...

J'ai, tu as, il a...

Je vais, tu vas, il va...

Je fais, tu fais, il fait...
